Storylink Radio, which has been presenting live oral storytelling in virtual worlds since 2008, has launched a free 24/7 audio stream that landowners in Second Life and OpenSim can use as parcel audio for their Halloween regions, hunts, and community venues this fall.

The syndicated stream, a pilot for the 2026 autumn season, plays a continuous broadcast of professionally narrated ghost stories, classic haunts and dark ambient audio. It runs on a ReliaStream server that can handle up to 5,000 listeners at once.

Storylink Radio isn’t charging for the service, and venue managers who use the stream are encouraged to host their own “Campfire Story Nights” around the broadcast — and keep all of the tips and donations those events bring in.

“We want to bring the traditional art of the Seanchaí — the oral storyteller — directly into the community’s backyard,” said Shandon Loring, founder and lead storyteller at Storylink Radio. “By syndicating the audio, a venue owner anywhere across the metaverse can drop a few chairs, light a virtual campfire, tune their land to our stream, and instantly host a live, professionally narrated story night for their visitors without needing a live avatar presenter on site.”

In addition to the round-the-clock recorded tales, Loring will break into the stream for live, unannounced “guerrilla” storytelling sessions throughout October, as well as hour-long scheduled live broadcasts on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. SLT.

How to add the stream to your land

To use the stream, open the About Land window in your viewer, go to the Sound tab, and paste this address into the music URL field:

According to Storylink Radio, the stream doesn’t require any in-world objects or scripts. Land owners who don’t want ghost stories playing across an entire region can carve out a small parcel — a graveyard, a haunted lounge, a campfire circle — and set the stream as the audio for just that parcel.

Full schedules, a web player and more setup tips are on the Storylink Radio stream gateway page.

Storylink Radio also runs a storytelling estate in Kitely, and Loring can be reached in-world in both Second Life and Kitely or by email at (email protected).

Hypergrid Business previously covered Storylink Radio’s fall events and its exhibit at the OpenSim World’s Fair.
